Under the latest BSNL, Airtel, Vi, and Jio TRAI rules, if a SIM is inactive for 90 days, it will still stay active if it has ₹20 balance. If no balance is left, the SIM will be deactivated, and the number will be given to a new user.

What Happens After 90 Days?
If a SIM is inactive for 90 days, a 15-day grace period is given to reactivate it. During this time, users can call customer care or visit a network store to restore their number. So, as the new TRAI Rules, this comes as a big relief for BSNL, Airtel, Vi, and Jio users.
What is “Non-Usage” of a SIM?
As per TRAI rules, a SIM is considered inactive if:
- No calls are made or received.
- No messages are sent or received.
- No mobile data is used.
- No extra services (like caller tunes) are used.
