Xiaomi’s Redmi Note series has shown an exponential growth both in terms of sales and customer attraction over the past few years. This can be mostly credited to the great price to performance ratio that the series offers. Be it an efficient budget smartphone chipset to the latest updates in hardware, the Redmi Note series offers all.

Xiaomi, this year came with the Redmi Note 9 series which offered one of the best all-in-one packages you can get in a budget smartphone. The only thing that budget smartphone users were kept void of was 5G offering. Recently, Xiaomi filled this much-needed gap and introduced a 5G variant of the Redmi Note 9 series. So, the Redmi Note 9 5G offers a massive 5000 mAh battery with 18W fast charging and an all-new build and design of camera setup which includes a 48MP primary sensor.

The Redmi note 9 5g comes in only a single variant – 128GB 6GB RAM. It comes in four colours; Aqua green, Pebble green, Red and arctic white. The phone never released in India is unavailable on both Amazon and Flipkart India and has also gone out of sale globally.

The back panel on the Redmi note 9 5G looks quite similar to the one we have seen on the POCO X3 and the OnePlus 7. Coming with a plastic back with a gradient touch changing from the top to bottom, the device gets a circular rear camera setup. You get Gray, Green and Violet colour options to choose from.

With both the power button and the volume rockers located at the right-hand side, the SIM tray can be found on the left. The fingerprint scanner is again mounted on the power button and there is a punch-hole on the centre of the display for the selfie camera. At the top is where we can find the infrared sensor and the stereo speaker setup which gets coupled with a second speaker at the bottom. The device also features a 3.5mm headphone jack located at the bottom.

The display on the Redmi Note 9 5G is identical to the one we have seen on the usual Redmi Note 9. It has the same IPS LCD panel with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top. With a 6.53-inch FHD+ display along with a punch-hole in the centre, the device promises an immersive full-view experience. The screen has a 20:9 aspect ratio and comes with a dated 60Hz refresh rate on the display.

Since the device supports 5G, we can see the MediaTek Dimensity 800U 5G chipset on the 5G variant of the Redmi Note 9 which on the other hand flouted the MediaTek Helio G85 SoC. Paired the chipset is 6/8GB of RAM and the Mali-G57 MC3 GPU, making it powerful enough for gaming and multitasking. The Redmi Note 9 5G gives an option to choose from 128/256GB of internal storage. Thanks to the hybrid-SIM slot, we also get the support to expand the storage using a Micro-SD card slot.

The 5G variant of the Redmi Note 9, unlike the usual Redmi Note 9 which hosts quad-rear camera set-up, features a triple rear-camera setup. So, there is a circular rear-camera setup at the back with a 48MP primary camera f/1.8 aperture, followed by an 8MP ultrawide camera with 118-degree field of view and f/2.2 aperture. The third is a 2MP macro sensor with f/2.4 aperture. The punch-hole on the front wraps the 13MP selfie camera with f/2.3 aperture. While the front camera can record Full-HD videos, the rear camera is capable of recording 4K videos at 30fps and 1080p videos at 30fps.

The 5G variant gets a 5000 mAh battery as compared to the slightly larger 5020mAh cell present on the usual Redmi Note 9. The 5000 mAh cell on the 5G variant is backed by an 18W fast charging support through the USB Type-C cable.

Redmi Note 9 5G offers a lot more to the user at a very aggressive price segment. With 5G connectivity being the icing on the cake, the smartphone offers no major compromises and arrives as a complete package and it can surely be another best-seller.
