  • Nothing comes up again with another update to the Nothing Phone (1). The smartphone has already had five updates since its launch. The updates were done to fix bugs, for adding new features and to improve the camera quality.

    The brand got its last Nothing OS 1.1.4 update which came with a lot of camera-specific changes to the phone. Now the new Nothing OS 1.1.5 update is for bringing the support of Jio True 5G networks in supported regions.

    Moreover, Reliance Jio’s 5G network, dubbed ‘Jio True 5G’, is regarded as a standalone network. It doesn’t rely on existing 4G infrastructure, just like Airtel’s 5G Plus service. These standalone infrastructures need specific updates from 5G-enabled phone-makers. It is done so that the devices can use their locked 5G bands to support the next-generation network.

    The new Nothing OS 1.1.5 gives the capability of unlocking the Jio True 5G networks on the Nothing Phone (1). But this is limited to the regions where Jio 5G network is accessible.

    The 5G network of Jio is currently limited to specific beta testers. However, it will be available for all Jio users in these regions on Diwali. Moreover, it’s exciting that the update rollout came on time. This will enable the users to be ready for the new network.

    How To Do The New Update?

    The Nothing Phone (1) users can get the update by following these steps. The steps are: navigate to Settings > System > System update > check for new updates. For downloading the update and installing it users can follow on-screen instructions.

    Several manufacturers are also getting ready to launch updates on their phones for utilising 5G networks in India. Some brands like Lava have already given out the 5G-ready updates and others like Apple, Google and Samsung are still preparing for the 5G lineup.
