But it looks like the company is all prepped up to bring yet another chipset in the market. MediaTek Dimensity 8100 under the Dimensity 8000 series is in news today. Now, if you recall, the company teased the chipset back in December at the Dimensity 9000 launch event. However, word on the grapevine indicates that a Dimensity 8000 is also on the way.
According to Chinese source It’s Fat, the MediaTek Dimensity 8000-series will launch officially on March 1, 2022. MediaTek is yet to confirm that launch date but it’s corroborated by Digital Chat Station. Now, although this is the only information we have right now on the MediaTek Dimensity 8100 processor.
MediaTek Dimensity 8100 SoC: Leaks
In a recent news, the MediaTek Dimensity 8100 chipset specifications have surfaced online. Thus, revealing a Snapdragon 888-level performance. Moreover, famous tipster Digital chat station has shared details on the processor via Weibo post. The chipset has four Cortex-A78 cores running at 2.0GHz and goes up to 2.85GHz at peak performance.
In addition, the MediaTek Dimensity 8100 processor will be on TSMC’s 5nm node instead of the 4nm node on the Dimensity 9000 SoC. The CPU is also fabricated on ARM V9 architecture instead of the X2 super core. This results in Mali G510 GPU instead of Mali G710 GPU.
Additionally, reports also hint that it will support LPDDR5 memory and UFS 3.1 storage. The leaker also says that the prototype shows 170fps results when the GFX Bench ES 3.0 Manhattan benchmark is running. Moreover, MediaTek Dimensity 8100 rumours are hinting that it might offer similar performance to the Snapdragon 888 and Kirin 9000 chips.
If the leak is true, the MediaTek Dimensity 8100 SoC is likely to feature on mid-range smartphones this year. The tipster also mentions that Dimensity 8100 will debut on a Redmi smartphone next month. However, exact details are still not clear. But if the specifications rumouring are true, then chances are it might feature on a Redmi K50 phone.
According to the tipster, early benchmark scores of the MediaTek Dimensity 8100 has a score of 820,230, CPU score of 197,563, and GPU score of 315,470. The scores are similar to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 chipset, which has an 806,964 total score, 198,510 CPU score, and 317,247 GPU score. That’s all we know about the Dimensity 8100 so far.
