  • Recent leaks suggest that Apple may discontinue the LCD screens and shift to OLED displays for all the iPhones. Apple is planning to bring this upgrade for the smartphones from 2025. This will mark the end of LCD era of iPhones. The leaks hint that Apple iPhone SE 4 will be the first such smartphone with OLED display.     Leak Hints At iPhone SE 4 With OLED Display

    The latest display leak on Apple iPhone SE 4 suggests that the Japanese suppliers Japan Display (JDI) and Sharp, will no longer produce for iPhone displays. They had a great share of LCD market.

    JDI was responsible for 70% of iPhone displays, a decade ago. But now as Apple is shifting to OLED displays, their role will diminish soon. Currently, the major market share of 50% for OLED market for iPhones is with Samsung Electronics, whereas LG Display has 30% and BOE has around 20%.

    Expansion To OLED Displays By Apple

    Apple first went in for OLED screens in 2017 with the Apple iPhone X, drifting away from LCD screens for high-end models. In 2023, LCD supply to Apple by JDI and Sharp went down drastically. As per the iPhone SE 4 leaks, this year the OLED panels will surpass LCDs.
