Apple, Google Begin Testing For 5G Update

Apple has not begun the 5G services update till now for its Apple iPhone 12 and other devices. As per the update on the Bharti Airtel website, the company is still working on updating the software for Apple iPhone 12 and other users of its devices.

Further, there is no official announcement about the expected timeline for Apple to let its users access the 5G network. But, it is reported that Apple will bring out the necessary changes by December this year. Along with the rollout of a new iOS update.

As per the report released by ET Telecom, the people are aware of this matter. Moreover, Apple is estimated to complete the 5G services update on its devices by December. It may come together with an iOS update for Apple smartphones.

Apple has begun its testing for the 5G services update in India. The testing is carried out in metro cities like Delhi and Mumbai. Along with this, even Jio networks are tested. This test is for the 5G services in Jio’s network. But this is not officially confirmed by Apple or Airtel.

According to the report, even the Google Pixel smartphones are planning to update to 5G services for their users. A software update will carry this out in December.

Whereas Airtel’s website mentions that a number of 5G-enabled smartphones with the Airtel network have still not received any official update for the 5G rollout. The smartphone companies include Samsung, Motorola, Asus, Honor, Lava, LG, Nokia and Tecno.

Meeting For The Services Update In India

The Department of Telecom (DoT) and MeitY officials are meeting the telecom operators and the smartphone companies on Wednesday. This meeting will result in discussing the use of 5G services over a wide scale in the country.

Even Apple and Samsung officials will join this meeting. This meeting will mainly aim to discuss the solution for resolving 5G services issues. DoT’s Secretaries and the Ministry of Electronics and IT will house this meeting.

A report from Reuters states that the Indian government is putting pressure on Apple and Samsung to adopt 5G support in their latest smartphones. Apple added 5G support to iPhone 12 in 2020.

But even after two years, Indian iPhone users are still unable to use this new fast network. The Indian government and the executives of Apple, Samsung, and other leading carriers of the country stated that they need to meet “to prioritize” supporting 5G on the latest smartphones.

This meeting will have the main agenda of enabling the new 5G services in smartphones in India.
