Xiaomi has smartphones all over the market ranging from budget to flagship. However, among all those phones, we know how killer the K series is. Adding to that series, Xiaomi has launched its latest Redmi K60.

You get a stunning 2K 120Hz AMOLED display and a powerful performance thanks to Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. There’s also a nice 64MP triple camera setup on the back to capture all your beautiful moments.

All this is backed by a beefy 5500mAh battery that delivers a great battery life. Paired with 67W fast charging, it is an all-rounder package. However, specs don’t tell the real story. Does it really live up to the K series legacy? Let’s find out in this Xiaomi Redmi K60 review.

Redmi K60 Review

Xiaomi has launched its latest flagship killer phone in the market by the name Redmi K60. It’s a solid all-rounder phone boasting flagship level specs at a much lower price than the competitors.

The Redmi K60 offers a stylish design, top-notch performance, a beautiful display for content consumption and a big battery to offer a long lasting backup. The 67W fast charging feature along with 30W wireless charging makes sure that there are no compromises.

The main camera looks good however the other two lenses are just as good as any other budget phone out there. So, is the Redmi K60 worth buying? Let’s discuss in this Xiaomi Redmi K60 review.

Redmi K60 Design and Build

Starting with the design, the Redmi K60 brings out a fresh looking design which looks like a mid-range phone. Yes, it does not look like a premium phone because it’s not. That doesn’t mean it has a bad design, instead, it looks pretty nice.

The Redmi K60 is avail in four colour options: Black, White, Green and Blue. I have the black colour model with me for the review. The phone has a glass back with a glossy finish. It does seem to attract fingerprints so better use a case with it.

Apart from Black, White and Green colour options also come with a glass back while the Blue variant comes with vegan leather back. It’s neither the lightness Redmi phone nor the slimmest but the overall in-hand feel is good and sturdy.

There are track-like textures around both the edges on the back and a subtle Redmi branding on the bottom. The camera unit looks very different and has more like a Vivo vibe to it. It protrudes as well so wobbling on a flat surface is normal.

Redmi K60 back panel

Coming over to the front, the bezels are really slim on all sides with a small punch-hole camera cutout on the top. There is no sort of IP rating which is a bit disappointing.

Talking about button and port placements, the right side has the power button along with volume rockers while the left side is clean. The top side has the secondary speaker, secondary mic and IR blaster. The bottom side holds the type-C port, primary speaker, primary mic and SIM card slot.

Redmi K60 Camera

The Xiaomi Redmi K60 hasn’t made any upgrades in the camera department, in fact, it can be called a downgrade if we compare it to other phones in this price range. The phone features a triple camera setup on the back which includes a 64MP main camera with OIS support, an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 2MP macro lens. The front side has a 16MP selfie camera housed inside the punch-hole cutout.

Redmi K60 Camera

The main camera takes good photos in daylight conditions. The images were sharp and detailed. The dynamic range was good and the colours looked punchy. The shutter speed was quick and there was no delay in capturing photos.

Things take a turn in low-light shots as the images dipped in detail. The colours did not look so nice and the dynamic range was simply not good.

The ultra-wide lens takes acceptable photos in good lighting conditions. The details and sharpness were much lower than the main camera. The colours also looked a bit faded. The main camera is much better than the ultra-wide lens.

The 2MP macro lens is just as bad as on any other budget phone out there. Why would Redmi launch a flagship killer phone with a 2MP lens, doesn’t make sense to me? Anyways the macro shots lack in detail. The colours look dull as well.

The front camera takes average selfies. The 16MP lens manages to capture some details and clarity however the skin tones do not look very natural. The dynamic range is also not up to the mark.

All in all the cameras on the Redmi K60 are no way near the flagship grade and can be found in phones costing around 20-25K. That said, it’s ok for casual use however if you like to take a lot of photos, you might want to skip this.

The phone can record up to 8K videos at 24fps or even 4K videos at 60/30fps from the main camera. While the front camera can only record 1080 videos at 60fps. The footage from the main camera is very detailed and had good colours. The stabilization was also good, thanks to the OIS. However, the front camera fails to record good videos.

Redmi K60 Battery and Charging

The Redmi K60 packs a huge 5500mAh battery which is paired with 67W fast charging support. The battery life of this phone is just superb. You can easily get a full day of backup on heavy usage.

A light user can even get two days of battery backup if the display quality is set to FHD+ and the refresh rate drops to 60Hz. I got more than 6 hours of screen on time which is expected from a big battery. All in all, I am really impressed with the battery life of the Redmi K60.

You can have long gaming sessions without worrying much about the battery. And even if it goes down, you get the 67W fast charging support to charge it quickly. The 67W charger takes about 50 minutes to fully charge the phone. I know it’s not the fastest but the big battery takes longer to charge.

You might think that other phones in this price range that offer similar charging speeds charge much faster, but let me remind you that they pack a 5000mAh battery while Redmi K60 has a bigger 5500mAh battery. The phone also supports 30W wireless charging.

Redmi K60 Display

Xiaomi Redmi K60 offers a stunning and beautiful display experience. To enable this experience, the phone features a 2K resolution 6.67 inches OLED display. It has a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1400 nits.

Redmi K60 Display

Yes, you will see phones with brighter displays at this price but K60 is not bad either. It gets bright enough to be used both indoors and outdoors. Moreover, the 120Hz refresh rate enhances the scrolling experience.

Be it scrolling through Insta feed or Twitter or even playing games, you will get a fluid touch response. The 2K resolution offers great details and sharpness. The colours on the screen look vibrant and the blacks look deep. The viewing angles are great and you don’t see any colour shift while seeing the display from a different angle.

Redmi K60 Display quality

I watched a couple of videos on YouTube and Drishyam 2 on Prime Video, and my viewing experience was just amazing. Paired with the stereo speakers, you get one of the best phones for multimedia usage. It definitely a flagship level display. I just wish it could get more bright.

Redmi K60 Performance and Software

The Redmi K60 does not disappoint when it comes to performance. It is powered by the last year’s flagship chipset, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 which is paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage.

Redmi K60 Performance

Of course, there is plenty of RAM and storage to manage all the apps in the background. Switching among apps is buttery smooth. The apps open up in a jiffy so no delay there. It’s a flagship grade chipset so we know how the performance will be.

I did not face any issues in everyday usage. There were no lags or shutters while navigating the UI or using different apps. Everything was smooth and fast.

Talking about gaming, I tried Apex Legends Mobile, Genshin Impact and New State Mobile. Both the games could run smoothly on the highest settings. You can play New State Mobile on Smooth graphics and Extreme frame rates. There were no lags or any major frame drops during the gameplay.

Redmi K60 Gaming Performance

Moreover, the phone was able to maintain its temperate and did not show any signs of overheating. We can thank the giant liquid cooling system installed which keeps the phone cool. The maximum temperature I noticed after an hour of gaming was 41° C.

The Redmi K60 runs on MIUI 14 skin which is based on the latest Android 13. I am really happy to see the phone running on Android 13 out of the box. As usual, you get tons of customisation and personalisation features.

MIUI 14 looks more refined and the overall UI appears simple and straightforward. The amount of bloatware has been reduced but it’s still there. Not to worry you can uninstall most of them.

Redmi K60 Audio, Connectivity, Biometrics

The Redmi K60 comes with stereo speakers, one located at the top and the other at the bottom. The speakers deliver loud and clear audio quality. The audio doesn’t distort even at high volumes. Overall, the speaker quality is good for the price. Sally, there is no 3.5mm audio jack for wired earphone users.

Redmi K60 Audio

The phone comes with 5G connectivity. We will know about the supported 5G bands once the phone launches in India. Other connectivity features include WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS and IR blaster.

Coming over to biometrics, the phone features an in-display fingerprint scanner which is fast and accurate at unlocking. It’s also pretty responsive so I could just unlock it with one tap. You can also use the face unlock feature which works well.

Verdict

Xiaomi Redmi K60 is a great value for money smartphone. You get exactly what you pay for or perhaps even more. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 makes sure that your day to day activities are handled with ease.

The big 2K display offers an immersive content viewing experience and the 120Hz makes everything super smooth. You get a solid battery life backed by the 5500mAh battery. The 67W charging speed isn’t the fastest but still fast enough for most users. On top of that, you get 30W wireless charging speed which you see in much higher priced phones.

The main camera is good for casual photography but the other two lenses only takes acceptable photos in good lighting conditions. Overall, the Redmi K60 is one of the best Redmi phones in its price range and is a capable flagship killer smartphone.
