Tecno Spark Go 2023 Design and Build
Tecno Spark Go 2023 has a very budget look but punches above its price tag. The is made of plastic, both the back panel and the frames. However, you get a textured finish on the back with some nice angular design.
The phone feels sturdy in hands and thanks to the textured finish, it doesn’t attack fingerprints. There’s a bug camera unit on the back with two big lenses which is accompanied by a dual LED flash and fingerprint sensor.
The farmers are flat but the phone looks thick at 8.9 mm. Overall, it’s a nice looking phone for its price and definitely feels good to hold. You get a power button and volume rockers on the right side. The left side has the SIM card slot while the top is clean.
The bottom side has the type-C port, loudspeaker, 3.5mm audio jack and mic. The buttons had a good tactile feedback. One thing that I found a bit uncomfortable was the placement of the fingerprint scanner which was hard to reach.
Tecno Spark Go 2023 Camera
The Tecno Spark Go 2023 features a dual camera setup on the back. This includes a 13MP main camera and a 2MP secondary lens. The front side has a 5MP lens for taking selfies and making video calls.
Talking about camera quality, there’s nothing much to say. It takes very basic images which are acceptable for its price. The main camera manages to take some decent shots in proper lighting conditions.
However, when I took some indoor shots, there was too much noise in the images and the details were missing. The colours also looked somewhat pale. The portrait shots were fine. The edge detection was hit or miss.
Coming over to the front, the 5MP camera took nice shots in daylight. However, the details were missing but the skin tones looked pretty natural. Portrait selfies failed miserably. My hair, ears and t-shirt were blurred around the edges.
You can record 1080P videos at 30fps using the main and front cameras. The video quality was ok. The dynamic range is not wide and the footage comes out shaky.
Tecno Spark Go 2023 Battery and Charging
The Tecno Spark Go 2023 packs a big 5000mAh battery which offers a solid battery backup. The phone easily lasts two days on light usage. I got about 6 hours of screen on time which is pretty good. Even if you are a heavy user, you can still use the phone throughout the day without needing to charge it.
The phone is paired with 10W charging support which is slow, I know it. But considering the price of the phone, I did not expect much. It takes about 2 hours to fully charge the phone from 0 to 100 per cent.
Tecno Spark Go 2023 Display
The Tecno Spark Go 2023 features an HD 6.56 inches IPS LCD display. It has a standard refresh rate of 60Hz and a peak brightness of 480 nits. I believe it’s a decent display for the price.
The phone gets bright enough for indoor use but I was struggling to use the phone outdoors during the afternoon. The touch response feels a bit delayed. Every time I scrolled or tapped somewhere, I felt there was some delay in the execution.

Other than that, the colours look good and I had a good time watching videos on YouTube. The viewing angles were good as well. The audio quality was pretty nice but the output was not very loud. Combined together, you can have a decent multimedia experience.
Tecno Spark Go 2023 Performance
The Tecno Spark Go 2023 is powered by a MediaTek Helio A22 chipset which is paired with up to 4GB RAM and 64GN internal storage. It’s an entry-level phone so it can only handle your basic tasks like texting, surfing the web, taking photos and making calls.
The phone lags when you try to run intensive apps and games on it. I noticed frequent lags and shutters while navigating the UI. Even the camera app was a bit buggy. Keeping that aside, you can run your casual apps like YouTube and WhatsApp on it with no worries.
On the other hand, heavier apps like Instagram, Snapchat and similar apps tend to lag and do not offer a smooth experience. If we talk about gaming, do not expect it to run COD, PUBG or any other graphic-intensive games.
You can enjoy playing light games on it like Subway Surfers, Candy Crush and more. I won’t say that it performs below average but there are other phones at this price which offer better performance.
The phone runs on HiOS V12 skin which is based on Android 12. It would have been nice if it came running on Android 13 but never mind. You get a bunch of features in the OS like dual apps, smart panel, kinds mode, game mode and many more.
At the same time, you get some pre-installed bloatware on the device which you can uninstall from the settings. Overall, the UI feels simple but I encountered frequent lags while navigating the UI.
The Tecno Spark Go 2023 is a good option if you are looking for an entry-level 4G phone. The phone offers solid battery backup and takes decent shots in daylight conditions. Yes, the performance is not the best at this price but it’s fair enough given the price tag.
The textured back panel feels nice to hold in hand and the big camera lenses make it look like some mid-range phone. If you want a more cheaper entry-level device, POCO C50 might be the way to go.
